Obi is the Founder of Dragon Africa, a strategic communications agency and conference producer and is the Chairman of Social Media Week Lagos which is the largest new media and technology conference in Africa. He also co-Founder other media and entertainment companies which include Cabal entertainment (a new 360 entertainment company), and is a co-Founder/director of 5ive Music, which provides support to independent artists in Nigeria.
Obi has worked across the sports, music, television, live events, social media and technology industries with multiple cross platform experience in the creative industry to advancing tech, media and entertainment in Nigeria leading him to be known as one of the principal advocates of Nigerian Soft Power. He has been an Executive Producer for amongst others, Fifa U20 World Cup 1999, CAF Nations Cup 2000, Big Brother Nigeria 2006, Dragons Den Nigeria, 2007, The Apprentice Africa 2008, Naija Sings 2009-2012, Calabar Festival 2008 & Calabar Rocks Tv Series 2008, Soccerex West Africa, WorldPension Summit Africa Special to name a few.
Obi Asika has advised multilaterals corporations/organisation, governments, brands and agencies on the creative industries, strategic communications, events and more. He was the first African appointed to a cabinet rank for Digital Policy and Social Media at the Federal level and is recognized as one of the drivers of the Nigerian entertainment explosion.
Obi Asika was educated at Eton College and The University of Warwick, he is a core advocate of Nigerian soft power and is focused on convergence.
